19/09/2011 - East Midlands Council Offices Taking Shape
The transformation of the County Hall Campus for Leicestershire County Council is starting to take shape, with the recent completion of the pavilion, eastern annex library and council offices.
Thomas Vale was selected as Framework Partner to work with Leicestershire County Council, to transform and modernise it services the citizens of Leicestershire. An essential component in this transformation is the introduction of new ways of working, to make best use of resources and to maximise efficiency.
The 3 year programme has involved the refurbishment of numerous areas of the campus including offices, meeting rooms, and break-out areas. The £14 million project which is due to be complete September 2012, is a part of the Council’s vision to provide accommodation which is of good quality and low environmental impact, as well as being flexible. It will in the main be open plan in concept, with break-out areas, meeting rooms and spaces designed for confidentiality. With fixed workstations and touch-down facilities, similar to internet cafes, the refurbished accommodation will support new working, by using methods new to Leicestershire County Council such as hot desking, as well as greater use of home-working.
The Council carried out a comprehensive review of its existing office accommodation before the programme commenced, in order to help it understand and identify future requirements. As a result, they produced an office strategy that ensures it is equipped with the facilities required to operate effectively and efficiently into the foreseeable future.
Paul McCormick, Partnership Manager at Thomas Vale Construction commented:
