10/09/2011 - Birmingham charity ball signs up key sponsors

More than 300 tickets have already been snapped up for the Birmingham Charity Ball, the late summer extravaganza that will raise funds for three local charities, Focus Birmingham, The Lord Taverners and 1Voice.

The glittering Friday 23rd September event has also attracted a host of prestigious sponsorship names with the current line up including principle sponsors Wilmott Dixon and executive sponsors Kier, Miller Construction , print and design group Sizzle and Thomas Vale Construction.

Proceeds from the Ball will be put towards purchasing a converted mini bus for Focus Birmingham which supports people with visual impairments and other disabilities, meeting venues and discussion forums for 1Voice which helps reduce isolation loneliness for children and adults with communication difficulties and specially adapted sports wheelchairs for The Lord’s Taverners, the official charity of recreational cricket.

Tony Hyde at Thomas Vale, one of the sponsors backing the event, said: “The Ball is a great opportunity for us to give something back to the local community and make sure that charities such as these get the support that they deserve. It’s great to see so many companies from the Midlands getting involved and working together to help make a difference to the lives of so many.”

The event has been organised by Birmingham Unlimited, a group of property and construction firms including Rider Levett Bucknall, Aedas, Brooke Smith Planning, Savills and URS/Scott Wilson to support and raise funds for the West Midlands charities.

Chairman of Birmingham Unlimited and ceo of Rider Levett Bucknall, Lance Taylor confirmed that guests will be treated to a night to remember. “We hope to make this an annual event, supporting a number of different charities across our region each year. It is a non awards night with a very small and palatable fundraising element which won’t bore! This is a night focussed on fun”

This inaugural event is taking place at one of the most impressive and prestigious locations in the region. Guests will not only be able to savour every minute of this very special evening but moreover, help make a difference to children and adults with learning difficulties and physical challenges in the greater Birmingham area.

Executive sponsorship packages are still available, which include a brand presence on the menu cards, the Birmingham Unlimited web site and inclusion in any press releases plus a huge thank you on the evening and the opportunity to exhibit in the pre-drinks reception area.
