08/09/09 - Sod Cutting at Bradley Stoke Community School
As the new term looks set to start at Bradley Stoke Community School in South Gloucestershire, Midlands based Contractor, Thomas Vale Construction, prepare the ground works for the new post-16 centre and dance studio ready for the building work to commence.

Recently a turf cutting ceremony was held at the school to celebrate the new development which will provide the school with an even wider selection of facilities. (Cllr) Shirley Holloway, Chairman of South Gloucestershire Council, head teacher, Dave Baker, several pupils from Bradley Stoke Community School and Contractor, Thomas Vale Construction were some of the people who attended the event. Shirley Holloway (Cllr) Chairman of South Gloucestershire Council commented; ‘It is good to see work started on the new Sixth form block for this flourishing school. It is already playing a full part in the life of Bradley Stoke and providing excellent education for its pupils. Now the way lies ahead for a successful Sixth form and a quality dance programme in the planned new facilities’.
The environmentally friendly development, funded by South Gloucestershire Council will feature a variety of renewable and sustainably sourced materials and will be situated by the side of the main school building. The project is due for completion next summer 2010. Dave Baker, Head Teacher at Bradley Stoke Community School Comments; “The addition of Post 16 facilities and provision at Bradley Stoke Community School from next September is vitally important for the school and the wider community. We are looking forward to working in partnership with Thomas Vale Construction and South Gloucestershire Council to ensure that a high quality Post 16 Centre is built by next summer. We are also continuing to work closely with the other schools and the college in the Concorde Partnership* to ensure that an appropriately broad 14-19 curriculum offer is in place for all the young people in the local area”.
