04/10/10 - Workers Run for Local Charities

Workers from Wolverhampton Homes, Wolverhampton City Council and Thomas Vale Construction have taken part in a half marathon, raising money for three locally based charities.

The three charities include ‘The Haven Project’ which provides emergency accommodation for women and children affected by domestic violence, ‘The Acorns Children’s Hospice’ that provides care and support for children and young people who have life limiting or threatening conditions and the ‘Motor Neurone Disease Association’ which funds and promotes research and provides people with some of the best care.

A selection of the runners took part in the half marathon relay which was successfully completed by staff from Thomas Vale Construction in 2 hours. Other employees ran the full 13.5 miles.

The day was a success with £4,000 being raised by Thomas Vale and donated to the charities. For more information on the selected charities please visit their web sites: www.havenrefuge.org.uk www.acorns.org.uk www.mndassociation.org
