29/11/10 - Blakenhall Receives New Neighbourhood Centre

Residents of Wolverhampton are excited about the completion of a new neighbourhood centre in Blakenhall along with Wolverhampton Council, ABCD (All Saints and Blakenhall Community development) and local contractors, Thomas Vale Construction as the new centre mirrors the quality and standards of the BREEAM ‘Excellent’ St Luke’s School, located next to the site itself.

The £5.7 million project features a timber frame, steel cladding with a ‘rust-like’ contemporary matte finish, a feature glass roof and green ‘living wall’. The completed centre will be managed by Wolverhampton Council, most of the funding has been provided by ABCD who account of £5million toward the total amount.

The neighbourhood centre, which will accommodate for a range of different ages and group activities will aim to bring the community together whilst increasing the number of facilities in the area - offering a range of sports and exercise programmes, children’s clubs, a large range of IT facilities, a community café, crèche, as well as other business related facilities such as meeting/training rooms and office environments.
