23/11/09 - Thomas Vale team up with West Midlands Police to help launch Shoebox appeal

Local midlands based contractors, Thomas Vale construction and Police Officers from Billesley and Yardley Wood have organised a ‘Shoe box’ charity campaign to give those in need some extra support in the run up to Christmas.

Members of the community and local shops have donated gifts which have been put in to shoe boxes and wrapped and will be distributed around the local area to those in need. To help underprivileged children in the local area enjoy the festive season, a Christmas party has also been organised as part of the charity campaign, where the gifts will be distributed, and food & entertainment will be laid on.

Sergeant Gayle Trowman from Billesley said: “We did a similar thing to this last year and it was a real success in terms of bringing the community together. The gifts were gratefully received by some very excited children and, in some cases, overwhelmed and emotional parents. We are really excited to be doing this again this year with the added bonus of a Christmas party bringing every one together and making a really community celebration. PCSO’s Emma Godfrey & Christine Bevington have worked tirelessly to make this event happen and get as many donations as possible.”

Paul Dockeril, Director of Thomas Vale Construction commented “We are particularly proud this year to be supporting the ‘Shoe Box appeal’ to bring happiness through celebration of Christmas to a number of children who need support through challenging times in their life. A traditional Christmas party and gifts for the children to enjoy have been brought together through teamwork and commitment from West Midlands Police and Thomas Vale teams."
