31/05/10 - Care home extension due to open in October
The 31 bed extension to Innage Grange care home in Bridgnorth, being built for Coverage Care by Thomas Vale Construction at a cost of £2.0m, will welcome its first residents in October 2010.
Project manager for Thomas Vale Construction, Paul Davies said: “Despite the awful weather earlier in the year, the new extension to Innage Grange is progressing well and the exterior of the building is nearly complete.”
Registered Manager at Innage Grange, Pauline Tremellen said: “Having the ‘builders-in’ has been quite a novelty for the residents and staff at the home. Construction has not interfered with the care we provide and we have enjoyed having the team from Thomas Vale Construction with us”.
David Coull, Chief Executive of Coverage Care added: “The new extension at Innage Grange will provide a total of 83 en-suite bedrooms in a modern and sustainable care setting, enhancing the care services we provide in Bridgnorth.”
“Innage Grange will be our first home to have dual registration as both a care home and a nursing home, designed to provide the highest standards of care for older people” added Mr Coull.
When the extension to the rear of the existing home is complete, it will create 30 new jobs for suitably qualified nursing, care and support staff, with the added benefit that the home is within walking distance from the town centre. Anyone interested in employment opportunities should telephone 01746 762112.
Innage Grange has been operated by Coverage Care on a not for profit basis since 1997 and was purchased from Shropshire Council in May 2009, with planning permission granted for a 31 bed nursing extension in June 2009.
Coverage Care looks after over 1600 mainly elderly people in Shropshire, employing 670 highly trained staff and operating from 16 care centres. The company has recently opened a 75 bed care home at Lightmoor View in Telford and a new 75 bed care home in Whitchurch will open in September 2010.
