10/05/10 - Thomas Vale Sponsor Local Ladies Rugby Team

Jade Wallis, from Thomas Vale Construction plc, pictured with the team said, “It was a pleasure to meet the team personally to announce our continued support. I wish them all the best for the next season”.

The Carolians had a successful first season playing 12 matches, winning 9, scoring 315 points and conceding only 141. Starting from scratch, in their first season, the ladies have been ably coached by Stuart Eades and have played in the WRFU Development League.

Planning for next season is already in progress when Nathan Small will take over as coach and the team will join the National Challenge 2 Regional League.

Team captain, Sarah Counder commented, “We are very grateful for the support of Thomas Vale Construction and are delighted that they have agreed to run their sponsorship of the team for another season.”

The players will now take a short break and recommence training at the beginning of June. The team is still looking to recruit more players and would welcome any Ladies who would like to play including those who have never played before.
