11/05/09 - Caldecott Park reopens to Fanfare

May marked the fanfare opening of Caldecott Park at Rugby following the £1.4 million refurbishment by the Thomas Vale Aston office and Fitzgerald Contractors. Along with the extensive landscaping works, two new play areas were built, a water feature and statue were re-instated and a new cafe was created from a Victorian tool-shed.

The launch started with a procession led by the Mayor, Councillor Bill Sewell (pictured), along with youngsters from Northlands Primary School who designed banners and wore a variety of themed costumes. This was followed by the official opening ceremony and declaration by the Mayor at the newly re-furbished bandstand. The Friends of Caldecott Park group also designed a number of colourful banners that were on display throughout the day.

Personnel from Thomas Vale and Fitzgerald were also on hand to assist the opening by handing out Frisbees to local children.

Commenting on the scheme Chris Worman, from Rugby Borough Council said“A very practical approach was taken by Thomas Vale and Fitzgerald throughout the project which has made them stand out above other contractors”.
