31/03/11 - Pupils celebrate beginning of school extension
Award winning Thomas Vale Construction and Oakhill Primary School mark the beginning of construction work for an extension to their school with a sod cutting ceremony. The turning of the first piece of earth symbolized a new journey for the school. Four chosen pupils along with head teacher Lyn Paxton joined the construction team on site this week to mark the occasion.
Rising pupils levels mean the school requires the £1.5million development to extend the existing hall and kitchen areas, create an additional 4 classrooms as well as refurbish the reception and toilet areas. The project will be completed in September this year.
Pete Buss, Contracts Manager, commented;
"As a local business we are very proud to be working in partnership with Oakhill Primary School and Stoke-on-Trent City Council in order to provide real added value benefits for both the school and the wider local community. This project will deliver tangible benefits to the school, current and future."
