11/06/2012 - Celebration balloons released at Kemball School
Kemball School in Stoke on Trent has celebrated the Queens Diamond Jubilee by hosting a Jubilee party and releasing a collection of red, white and blue balloons which were donated by Thomas Vale Construction.
The award winning contractor has been appointed by Stoke City Council to deliver a new £12 million facility for the school through the Stoke Building Schools for the Future Programme.
Students recorded their hopes and aspirations for their new school on to balloon wish tags and will wait for them to be found.
Work began on the new school in March 2012 and is making great progress, the foundations have now been laid and the steel frame and ground floor slabs are nearing completion. Mechanical and Electrical installations and the pool shell are due to commence within the next month.
Once completed, the school will have new state-of-the-art facilities incorporating hydrotherapy pool, sports hall, drama studio and gym. When it opens in September 2013, the building will accommodate up to 140 pupils.
