16/06/08 - St Edward’s School Complete
St. Edward's is an independent 11-18 co-educational Catholic day school of 490 pupils. Along with high academic standards, it provides a wide range of extra-curricular activities and has a strong tradition of pastoral guidance. Pupil numbers have grown in recent years.
“Thomas Vale Construction and the school had a close relationship which ensured traffic management of deliveries and school staff were well managed on a confined site. Our site manager together with the school Bursar had regular site visits during the build process with the school pupils to enable the children to view the progress on site”.
Kevin Zamur, Contracts Manager, Thomas Vale Construction
This is the school’s biggest ever development project. It has provided a huge enhancement of their facilities. It will also free up existing space which will be refurbished to provide improved accommodation for other subjects. The Art Department will be able to move out of the present temporary Sixth Art Studios and take over the whole of the old Refectory building, providing an ideal light-filled Art room. The CCF (Combined Cadet Force) will move out of their temporary hut into a permanent area which will combine offices, meeting room and stores. And the current old Drama building will be converted in a new 'Cafe 6' Sixth Form Careers Centre.
It is very exciting that the School has undergone this new phase of development, accommodating our growth in pupil numbers and providing much higher quality facilities.
Dr. Andrew Nash, Headmaster, St Edward’s School
