Combine this with a comprehensive approach to local employment and training initiatives and you have a winning combination.

At a time when Local Authority budgets are under increasing pressure, the Birmingham Construction Partnership (BCP), led by Birmingham City Council continues to deliver outstanding value for money.

Birmingham City Council founded the Partnership in 2004 and it is a unique collaboration of contractors, design and specialist supply chain, tasked with delivering every project in the city with a budget of £100,000 or more. The Partnership’s original aims were to deliver construction projects to time and to budget, with less defects and accidents on site. It also aimed to maximise construction spend in the local area, safeguarding jobs and boosting the economy. The Contractors who partner Birmingham City Council are GF Tomlinson, Thomas Vale Construction and Wates Group.

The results achieved since 2004 clearly demonstrate the scale of its achievements:

  • 94% cost predictability against a national average of 54%
  • 97% time predictability against a national average of 56%
  • 89% client satisfaction against a national average of 84%
  • 99.6% safety against a national average of 63%
