16/07/10 - The Other World Cup

In response to the World Cup 2010, The Birmingham Construction Partnership held a football tournament of their own, with each team representing a country featured in this year’s game.

16 teams took part in the 5 a side football event from across all partners. Each partner had a minimum of four teams, with one of the teams being made up of subcontractors.

Some of the teams included, Thomas Vale Construction, Apex Roofing, Electec, Emcor, 5 Star Scaffolding, CCAD and PGC.

Steve Rose – Team Captain for TVC Aston Office said: “The BCP World Cup Tournament was a fantastic way to raise money and strengthen the bonds within the Partnership. It took a lot of organising but was totally worthwhile by the amount of money raised at the end of it!Thanks to our teams, TVC Capcroft, TVC Aston Office and TVC Woodcock Street. If Fabio Capello calls, rest assured I’l put in a good word”

Each team secured their chosen country by placing bids; the highest bid won the Country name.

A staggering £1540 was raised between the teams in total, with the donations being split between Help for Heroes and The Birmingham Lord Mayors Charities.

Three of the Thomas Vale Teams “bowed out gracefully” in the First Round, but the fourth team, Emcor, Successfully made it through to the Finals and won the prestigious BCP World Cup Tournament Trophy.

The Birmingham Construction Partnership would like to congratulate and thank everyone who took part in BCP World Cup Football Tournament.
