09/01/2012 - Young board to bring ‘Hollywood’ to Midlands for charity fundraiser

Members of a Future Enterprise Board set up by the main Board of Directors at the Thomas Vale Group are set to raise thousands of pounds for local charities by holding a charity ball themed to bringing Hollywood to the Midlands for one night only in 2012.

The three charities that are set to benefit from the fundraiser include Worcestershire-based Acorns Children’s Hospice who care for life-limited children and their families across the West Midlands region, The Emily Jordan Foundation based in Kidderminster who help individuals with moderate learning and physical disabilities to lead fulfilled lives and a social enterprise company in Birmingham, Forward 4 Work who work with people who have mental health problems, learning difficulties or physical or sensory disabilities to support them into quality employment and training.

Proceeds raised on the evening, will be donated to the causes in order to support local people and families in the deliverance of services which really make a tangible difference to the region.

Chris Jordan, chair of the trustees of the foundation said: “We are very pleased that Thomas Vale has chosen The Emily Jordan Foundation as one of its partner charities for this event. As a business, they are well known for their community work and their support of aiding disadvantaged groups to enter the workplace.

“We are hoping that local businesses within the construction sector, sign up their young people to attend the event to raise awareness of the difference that the services that these charities and social enterprises make to mothers, fathers, sisters and brothers across the area.”

Sasha Cotterill, chair of the events board adds: “As a Board we want to give something back to the communities which are most affected by our works on a day to day basis.

"We are hoping that this event is going to be a major focus in local businesses social-diaries; not only in the hope of seeing Hollywood come to life for one night only, but also to raise monies for local charities across the Midlands, charities which depend on public and business support.”

The event is being held at the Edgbaston Cricket Ground on 11th May 2012, and is themed around old-school Hollywood, where famous ‘stars’ such as Marilyn Monroe and James Dean are hoped to make an appearance on the night! Sponsorship packages are available, which include a brand presence for the whole of the evening, and inclusion in all press releases plus a huge thank you on the evening.
