04/02/09 - Brand New School in Stapenhill
Constructed by Midlands based contractors Thomas Vale Construction the school, which will complete in September 2009, will be located on a single site, where Waterside junior school currently stands
County Councilor Peter Davies, support member for schools said: “This ceremony marks the beginning of a very exciting project for both schools, one which will not only benefit pupils and staff, but the wider community too. Stapenhill can now look forward to a 21st Century school to be proud of.”
The new school, to be called River View Primary and Nursery School, will have places for 315 pupils and a 26 FTE nursery. It will combine state of the art facilities and innovative design in order to become a focal point for the community.
Ian Coombes, Partnership Manager, Thomas Vale Construction commented: “Thomas Vale Construction is pleased to be involved in the project to create the new River View Primary and Nursery School and we look forward to involving the pupils and wider community in this exciting project.”
Chris Bell, Head teacher of Short Street and soon to be Head teacher of River View said: “This is a wonderful opportunity to create a new primary school for children and families in Stapenhill. Everyone at both schools is very excited and looking forward to learning together at River View in September.”
