08/12/10 - Stourport Primary Celebrate New School

Award winning Thomas Vale Construction and Stourport Primary School mark the beginning of construction work at the new school with a balloon release.

The balloon launch symbolized new journey for the new school. Each child attached a card with a wish on it, to which Thomas Vale has promised to donate a prize for each card found.

Jacqui Elwis, Head teacher of Stourport Primary School, commented;“We feel very proud and privileged to be having a new school. The children have been involved from the very beginning working with the architects to design the building – they have had a lot of very interesting ideas. We now have a group of children who are keeping a close eye on the progress the builders are making – with weekly reports being heard in assembly. We think it is going to be the best Christmas present ever in 2011.”

The £4.8million School will include 13 classrooms with dedicated ICT suite, Food science, design & technology rooms and play areas with outside teaching facilities. The new building will also contain a nursery and integrated children's centre while incorporating many different renewable technologies such as; Bio Mass boiler, Solar Chimneys and a full sustainable urban drainage system.

Andrew Peasgood, Contractor Framework Manager at Worcestershire County Council Property Services, commented;“This is the first project being built under our new Contractor Framework arrangements, and I am delighted that strong working relationships are being forged already between Thomas Vale and our professional team, and judging by the enjoyable balloon launch day with the school staff and pupils too.”
