31/08/2011 - Thomas Vale congratulated for making a dream come true
The head teacher of a Warwickshire school is thrilled with the efforts of Thomas Vale Construction on the completion of their new Sixth Form building.
Colin Turner, Headteacher of Etone College, Nuneaton has thanked Thomas Vale and the project delivery team for the hard work, dedication and sheer determination they have committed to ensuring the college have a building which is ‘way beyond anything they could have hoped for.’
Mr Turner added: “I have proudly taken our students on tours around the building as well as members of the public, colleagues from other schools and member of the WPLA too. The word every single one of these people have said is wow.
“The Etone College Sixth Form building is an architectural triumph. The dream of having a Sixth Form has been surpassed by the statement the new building makes. It is an inspiring venue for learning and teaching, standing in stark contrast to its surroundings. My thanks to the BBLB and Thomas Vale team for doing such a great job for the staff and students of Etone College; it will be a beacon of educational quality for years to come.”
The scheme has been built on the college grounds and will enable the delivery of a variety of Post 16 courses, for learners in North Warwickshire. The £6.1 million development has been designed to high sustainable environmental standards with a view to achieving BREEAM Excellent and will have the capacity to accommodate 250 students with the possibility of future expansion.
The school’s brief included wanting “a brand new, state of the art facility, which will respond to the educational, social and economic challenges of the 21st Century”. The centre embraces new technology, total flexibility and has been built to reflect the strong family and community ethos of the college. The exemplar facilities will include Technology studios, Performance Arts suite, cutting edge Business facilities and ICT suites with Media Production capabilities.
