17/08/2011 - Thomas Vale become partner in BITC’s unique education programme
Thomas Vale Construction have recently become a partner of Business in the Community’s unique, strategic education programme; Business Class. A programme which aims to build effective, sustainable partnerships between schools and a national network of businesses. It’s ultimate aim is to aid young people in developing their skills, aspirations and the motivation they need to succeed in the world of work.
With schools facing increasing challenging circumstances, the need for support to develop robust management processes is becoming evermore important, particularly in building strong foundations for educational developments and initiatives. Business Class enables schools to identify collaborations at all levels and businesses to share their expertise and support.
The importance of programmes such as Business Class is greater than ever, with more than 1 in 6 young people in the UK leaving school unable to read, write or do simple addition.
Thomas Vale has been partnered with Washwood Heath Technology College in Birmingham. As part of our role in the partnership, we will provide lectures, mentoring, workshops and various other work based learning programmes to provide proven impact within the school. We will share our practice and develop an infrastructure through support for areas such as finance and marketing, as well as enterprise education and work experience. The partnership will commence in the forthcoming autumn term.
Sasha Cotterill, BITC Champion at Thomas Vale Construction commented:
“We are proud to be involved in such a worthwhile scheme, and it’s great to know the positive impact the programme will have for the students and the school itself. We are really looking forward to working with the students and making the programme a success.”
