12/08/2011 - Children’s Home refurbishment complete
Warwick House Children’s Home in Acocks Green is ‘outstanding’ according to government inspectors. The children’s home has recently received a major refurbishment by leading contractors Thomas Vale.
The home which belongs to Birmingham City Council provides respite care for children with physical and learning disabilities, as well as those who have challenging behaviour.
The £700k project undertaken by Thomas Vale saw the refurbishment to both interior and external areas of the property, including several new bedrooms, a new lounge area, play area and sensory room. The kitchen area was also relocated to provide more space for the staff and children.
Richard Green, Divisional Director of Thomas Vale Construction commented: “This is a brilliant project to have been involved in. We are a company committed to providing for the local community and we are proud to have been able to design and refurbish this facility for such a worthy cause.”
The home recently held an open day to celebrate the completion of the project, where it was officially re-opened by Lord Mayor Anita Ward. Member of Thomas Vale Construction and Birmingham City Council joined the celebrations along with some of the children and staff from Warwick House.
