26/04/10 - Local School Celebrate Official Launch

Teachers and children from Streetsbrook Infant and Nursery School in Solihull celebrate today with The Mayor and Mayoress of Solihull, Councillor and Mrs Norman Davies, and local contractors Thomas Vale Construction as they announce the official launch of the new £1.2 million refurbishment and extension work taking place at their school.

The Lord Mayor of Solihull, Councillor Norman Davies Comments: “It is a pleasure to be at the ceremony to mark the beginning of this exciting project, which will greatly benefit both the pupils and staff at Streetsbrook Infant and Nursery School. I look forward to coming back and seeing the completed work.”

The works comprises general refurbishments, large classroom extensions, a new walkway and front reception and a new I.T. suite. The project is being funded by Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council.

Paul Burchell, Divisional Director atThomas Vale comments: “We are delighted to be involved in this project with Solihull MBC and Streetsbrook Infant and Nursery School and look forward to producing an excellent working environment for the children.”

The official launch was well attended by staff, pupils and parents as they ended the day with an annual sports event to help raise money for ‘EducAid Africa’, a charity that helps to provide orphans in Africa with food and education.

Mrs Louise Greenall, Headteacher at Streetsbrook Infant and Nursery School adds: The building works will have a significant impact on the school's learning environment, and this together with a fantastic team of staff and governors will enable us to continue to ensure the children who come to Streetsbrook benefit from the very best eduction in the very best facilities.”
