09/04/09 - Play area reaches the peak thanks to joint donation
Young children in the pictureesque Worcestershire village of Eckington are set to benefit from new play equipment recently installed at Eckington Recreation Centre.
Rooftop Housing Group and Thomas Vale Construction made the joint donation of £3,000 to help fund the new equipment as a 'thank you' to everyone at Eckington who helped out during the construction of 12 new properties adjacent to the recreation ground. The money has been invested in improving the well-used play area and, in particular, install an exciting piece of equipement called 'The Peak'. The new properties, at Roman Meadow, Eckington have been built to the highest standards of build quality and design to ensure they fit in with the rural surroundings. During construction of the properties to the Eckington Recreation Centre management allowed workers to park on the recreation ground to help them gain access to the site.
Allan Brace, Chair of Evesham & Pershore Housing Association, part of Rooftop Housing Group, said:"These new properties are a credit to the area and we are delighted to be making this contribution to the improved play area. Affordable homes of this type are much needed in rural areas but there often many obstacles to overcome before we can reach this point. It's great that we have these wonderful new homes and that we can also help to put something back into the wider community."
Ian Cox, Partnership & Development Director at Thomas Vale Construction added:"We are passionate about making a lasting impact in the communities in which we work. We hope this modest contribution is enjoyed by the wider rural community!”
Sarah Fincher, Chair of the Eckington Recreation Centre said:"We are extremely grateful to Rooftop and Thomas Vale Construction for this donation. The recreation ground is much used by the children of the village and I have no doubt this new equipment will prove very popular."
