Alexander Stadium, Grandstand
Contract Value: £10.4 million This development is the first stage of a masterplan to re-develop Alexander Stadium to ultimately provide a 35,000 seater athletics stadium for the City. The facility will provide fixed seating for 5000 spectators, including 30 assisted wheelchair spaces located mid terrace. Toilets, a First Aid Room, and a food concession outlet are provided on the second floor public concourse which is accessed via two pedestrian bridges from the new grass embankments. Beneath the grandstand the design provides for 2500 sqm of self contained Office space on two floors, with interconnecting stairs and lift. Adjacent to the Offices there will be 535 sqm of public Gym space provided, which will include showers and changing facilities, and will supplement the existing gym at the stadium. The Offices are being constructed to achieve a BREEAM Very Good rating.
