Royal Shakespeare Theatre

Contract Value: £1.5 million

Fitzgerald were appointed to undertake work to transform the 1932 Royal Shakespeare Theatre but retain the key Art Deco and Victorian elements of the building. The hard and soft landscaping includes remedial works to the existing retaining walls using specialist heritage brickwork, this compliments the existing structure which has been left to provide the public with a combination of historical architecture and sympathetic contemporary designs. The surrounding hard landscaping consists of yorkstone and granite paving which includes steps and ramps, providing not only an improved “public realm” but improved disabled and push chair access. To complement these works, a wooden decked Riverside boardwalk has been constructed from sustainable sources.
