Members of Thomas Vale attended a ‘Sustaining the Promise’ event last week held to celebrate the achievements of the Birmingham Construction Partnership (BCP). Since its launch in 2004 the Birmingham Construction Partnership has been at the forefront of partnership frameworks and has to date helped to deliver around £500million of city improvements to Birmingham.

The event held a The Pavilion sports ground was a huge success with guest speakers including Councillor Paul Tilsley, Deputy Leader of Birmingham City Council and Don Ward the chief executive of Constructing Excellence.
An awards ceremony was also held to recognise the outstanding contributions made by staff in supporting the work of the Birmingham Construction Partnership. Included in this were several representatives from Thomas Vale who are helping to deliver a multi million pound programme of works.
Simon Hames, Site Manager at Thomas Vale was awarded for work on Greet Surestart. Initially the Greet Sure start scheme seemed to be straight forward but a large quantity of additional works and heavy rain, sustained over a long period, put the completion date in doubt. Simon's consistent commitment to the project enabled it to complete on time and to a high standard. The good communication and commitment shown by Simon enabled him to run the site autonomously.

John Davies, Site Manager, Thomas Vale, for work on the Council House Extension. During his time involved with the project, the works on all phases have been completed on programme, with minimal defects whilst dealing with all the other arising issues in a timely and effective manner. Johns effective communication and close working relationship with the Educations Dept, Museum Curator and Security has enabled the buildings to remain operational at all times.

Gary Underwood, Project manager Thomas Vale, for work on Coppice and Langley School. For the last 12 months the efforts made by Gary at Coppice and Langley have been reflected in very good results following audits under the Considerate Constructors Scheme, commendation from the school management, and more recently resulted in the Constructing Excellence Award from WMCCE for the Management of Health & Safety on site. As Project Manager, Gary has continually emphasised the need to focus attention on the management of Health, Safety & Environment on a project that presents a significant number of hazards in addition to the 'usual' concerns of managing a Construction Project on site.
