On Thursday 31st January 2008 representatives of Midlands based contractor Thomas Vale Construction gathered with service users and carers at Brook House Respite Unit in the Lozells area of Birmingham following the completion of the project to adapt and refurbish the building to provide a more flexible and person centred model of care.

Brook House, a respite home for young adults with learning and associated physical disabilities, has recently undergone a massive £450k refurbishment by Thomas Vale who were the selected contractor by Birmingham City Council Adults and Communities Directorate. Just some of the benefits include adaptations to the ground floor bedroom, lounge and bathroom facilities with state of the art manual handling and bathing equipment and an extension to the dining room to enable a wider range of customer needs to be met.

“The project has been very client focused to ensure the end result is of a high standard. We have had an extremely good working relationship with Birmingham City Council throughout the job”

Ian Bedworth, Contracts Manager, Thomas Vale.

The Right Worshipful Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Councillor Randal Brew and members of the wider community all attended on the day to celebrate the occasion.
