On 5th December 2007 Thomas Vale began work building a brand new school for pupils at St Luke’s Primary School in Wolverhampton. The school comprising of over 400 pupils currently operates on a split site with infants on one site and the junior school on the other around a mile away. The new ‘Church of England’ aided school is now being built on a single site. Land became available for the school when tower blocks on the old Blakenhall Gardens Estate were demolished.

The occasion was celebrated by the gathering of teachers, pupils and other members of the wider community. This ‘flagship project’ in the area of Blakenhall which is currently undergoing huge regeneration clearly means a lot to all involved.

“I am thrilled to see work beginning on the building of the new St Luke’s School and ABCD is delighted to be working with all of the partners on such an exciting project. The new school will really give youngsters from the area a great start in life and we can look forward to a positive future thanks to exciting ventures such as this.”
Harmesh Mal, chairman of the ABCD New Deal for Communities regeneration scheme

The design as well as the choice of building materials will make the school highly energy efficient and allow a lot of natural daylight into the centre of the school.
