As well as the astounding amount raised for Children in Need in Partnership with Sandwell Homes and Sandwell MBC, Thomas Vale also committed a vast amount of time and money to be able to support the Thomas Vale Pantomime Horse Grand National in Partnership with Birmingham City Council.

The special course consisted of 12 grueling jumps with a mixture of water and foam fences where grown up race around in horse outfits!
The race commenced from Brindley Place, continued along Broad Street through the ICC and finally at Centenary Square with over 50 men and women taking part from local businesses.
Once again, for the fifth year running, the pantomime horses galloped to reach the finish line – the BBC also attended to cover the event along with local band Miccoli and young Connie Talbot from Britains Got Talent.

Lucy Bosworth adds:
“It was incredibly tiring and I’d never have imagined I’d be doing anything like that, but it was fun and well organized. I came 10th in the Fillies race and raised over £500.00 sponsorship from friends and some of my Thomas Vale Colleagues.”

The evening proved to be a great success, with Thomas Vale the main sponsors of the event managing to raise a massive twenty two thousand and a staggering £300,000 overall going to Children in Need.

Kevin Brown, Head of Events at Birmingham City Council adds:
“Birmingham City Council is very grateful to Thomas Vale for the great sponsorship and support of what has no become a bit of a Birmingham Institution. The event was held as part of BBC Children in Need and attracted widespread publicity, attained front page status in the Birmingham Mail the next day and was fully enjoyed by all who participated in it. On behalf of Birmingham City Council, well done to everyone at Thomas Vale involved in this event and we very much hope to continue the partnership for years to come.”

Overall, for Children in Need, the Midlands raised a whopping £1.5million.
