A redevelopment scheme in Cannock is progressing to the next stage following the appointment of partners to undertake the scheme.

Waterloo Housing Association and Thomas Vale Construction have been chosen as the development partners for the Elizabeth Road Area Redevelopment Scheme.

One hundred properties will be demolished and new homes provided through the partners. There will be a choice of homes for rent which will be managed by Waterloo Housing Association, or to buy outright or through shared ownership. In addition, open spaces will be redesigned and re-landscaped and new play facilities provided. Proposals for a community facility and new road layout are also being considered.

All residents and private landlords in the Elizabeth Road Area have been informed of the new partnership, along with residents in neighbouring properties.

Waterloo Housing Association has worked in partnership with the Council to provide affordable homes for more than 20 years and is experienced in delivering similar redevelopment schemes.

Thomas Vale Construction has earned the title ‘Contractor of the Year’ six times in the last nine years.

Programming and planning for the Elizabeth Road scheme is now underway, after having been approved by the Council’s Cabinet in October last year.

Cannock Chase Council’s Head of Housing Ian Tennant said: “We have worked successfully with Waterloo and Thomas Vale Construction before and very much look forward to our partnership to deliver the Elizabeth Road Area Redevelopment Scheme.
“We are confident that the new scheme will be designed and constructed to the highest standard ensuring the area’s long-term sustainable future.”

Chris Jones, Director of Development and Regeneration at Waterloo, added: “Using the strengths and skills of the partnership, we aim to reinvigorate the Elizabeth Road area by building high quality, exemplary homes in a mix of tenures.
“Our focus is on creating and supporting a sustainable community, where people want to live now and in the future. It’s an exciting project, with which we are very pleased to be involved.”
