Retail

Thomas Vale’s success in complex retail construction, shop fitting and refurbishment is due to our ability to ensure high quality management with an exceptional track record for delivery.

Our ability to identify bottle necks, speed up times and fast track projects without compromising quality is greatly valued by our clients.

We also have the major benefit of being able to undertake the full range of construction services in-house, from heavy demolition, structures and construction works, through to high quality fit out. Specialist joinery is sourced externally to avoid problems experienced by many of our competitors who cannot guarantee effective cost control of in-house manufacture and the associated problems of self made installations which simply are not of the right quality.

Our approach allows us to provide an unequalled and managed solution to ensure a quality project for our clients.

While the urban renaissance continues at pace, Thomas Vale prides itself on the ability to accommodate complicated working arrangements and high specification schemes, taking 100% footprint and occupied sites as a given.

For us, the focus remains upon sustainable development that will form the heart of our future communities. From high profile schemes such as the Bullring’s Spiral Café to clients such as the Royal Bank of Scotland, all of our projects are underpinned by a flexible and collaborative approach that encourages regeneration and, wherever possible, allows trading to continue undisturbed.

Together with our partnered supply chain, we liaise closely with store and centre management, providing a consistent single point of contact from day one through to hand over.

This ensures that potential ‘problem’ areas are foreseen and disruption to the public and adjacent occupiers is prevented.

Our experience, specialist knowledge and appreciation for the many unique demands of this sector ensures that we remain proactive and responsive, leading the way in creating community wealth for generations to come.

Tollgate Centre

Thomas Vale Construction, through our specialist fitout division City and Interiors, undertook the refurbishment of the Tollgate Centre, Smethwick. The £700,000 project transformed the 1960’s precinct into a modern, attractive retail centre which has kick-started further regeneration of the area. This complex refurbishment and upgrading project in the heart of Smethwick was completed in only 19 weeks, maintaining access and trading throughout the works.

Spiral Café

At the heart of Birmingham’s Bull Ring, the Spiral Café is among the most architecturally inspired in Europe. Thomas Vale’s City & Interiors Division turned this ambitious concept into a functional structure.

Thomas Vale transformed architect Mark Barfield’s challenging and workable scheme through a Design & Construction project, using a combination of unique materials not typically seen in the UK.

The project has won numerous accolades, including Best Small Project of the Year.
